（Grierson, Sir George Abraham; 1851～1941） 英国印度语言学者。一八七三年以政府文官身分至印度，为印度语言调查会会长。将分布于印度各地之一七九种语言，与其他五四四种地方语言作一历史之实际调查，研究成果极其丰硕。数年之间（1898～1902）搜集整理，着成 Linguistic Survey of India,1903～1928 ，共十一卷，当中其所亲自执笔之第一卷 Introductory 为全书之摘要与精髓，系研究印度语言与印度文化史之基础书。其他著作有 AHandbook of the Kaithi Character, 2 vols., 1889； The Languagesof India, 1904; The Pis/a^ca Languages of North-western India,1906； Bihar peasant life, 2 vols.,1925; A Dictionary of the Kashmiri Language, 1932 等，大多为有关印度语言之卓越论文。
